We took this super ADORABLE Sparrows by Pen and Paper pattern and paired it with Riley Blake BEE BASICS by Lori Holt!

The Sparrows Quilt Pattern (65 1/2" x 71") is a traditionally pieced, block-based pattern. All the initial cutting is done for you to follow the pattern instructions as written, so you will do some trimming of half-square triangles after sewing. You can skip all the initial cutting instructions!

Finished size: 65 1/2″ x 71″

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

I enjoyed learning the sewing technique needed for piecing the birds. I don’t think it’s a beginner quilt. It did look nice when finished. I made it a 12-bird quilt so it would not become a UFO (lol!). It was nice to not have to do all of the cutting of those various size pieces..

When I ordered this quilt, I was under the impression that it would be ready to sew. I would have not ordered it, if I would have understood that I had a lot of cutting to do before it was ready to sew! The colors are beautiful and the fabric is quite possibly the best ive worked with, thus far. However, I was under the impression there would be patterns for each section of the bird and not measurements to cut the birds. I am 6 months new to quilting and the beauty of this quilt made me have to have it. Honestly, I have not started it because its a bit intimidating only because theres no physical pattern. I will buy from you again though, bank on that.

Im nearly finished constructing the three sections of all the blocks and ready to sew them together. The background fabric feels like heavt apparel polyester, not quilter’s cotton. I loved having everything precut but even still there was so much trimming hsts. I was reminded why i gor an accucut. The pattern is in another colorway, which is fine, except the background in the pattern is white, and the kit background fabric is supet dark, so i had to really stay on my toes. I usually visually track along with a pattern, and the color swap hurt my brain. The pattern is well written, accurate, and easy to follow. I dod swap out the white bird fabric, ad it was the same for the three triangles bit, and uninteresting. I usedsome tan scraps from my stash and was pleased, overall.
